The Schlieffen Plan
The plan was created by General Count Alfred von Schlieffen in the December of 1905. It was the operational plan for an attack on France once Russia mobilized her forces near the German border. The execution of the Schlieffen Plan led to Britain declaring war on Germany on August 4th, 1914. -

Battle of the Somme
The Battle of the Somme was one of the bloodiest events in WW1 history. With over 1.2 million casualties in only 5 months of battle. This was a fight between Britain and France (with Canada's help) vs the vicious German troops. -

Vimy Ridge
Canada (with Britain's assistance) took down three German divisions in Vimy, Pas-de-Calais, France. While a short-lived battle, it was a great contribution to the war, as Canada discovered new battle strategies, and made Canada recognizable in the war. Before Vimy, Canada was seen more as backup. -

Treaty of Versailles
This was the treaty between Germany and the Allied nations which brought the World War to a proper end. It was signed in the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, France. Fun Fact: It was signed exactly 5 years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. -

The Western Front, a 400 mile stretch of land between France and Belgium from the Swiss border to the North Sea, was a front. Whichever side won there would be able to claim victory for their respective alliance.
