    Japanese invastion of China
    There was an uproar at the Marco Polo Bridge that was located near Nejing, China. This uproar was between the Chinese and Japanses. The Chinese wanted to get help from other nations to defeat Japan. The Japanese soon had over one million troops helping them over the course of the war to defeat China, but they were unsucsessful.

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    Germany was able to control areas such as Czechoslovakia and Austria without a problem, but this time it was different. France and Great Britain decided to work together and help Poland fight against Germany. Germanys army was very good and Poland wasnt strong enough to go against Germany.     German Blitzkrieg
    Blitzkrieg was a way for the Germanys to attack quickly and efficiently. Germany had signed a mutual agreement with the USSR and secretly they planned to take over Poland and split it between the to. Using the Blitzkrieg method made it easy for the two to take not only Poland over but others such as Denmark and Norway in the following months.     Fall of Paris
    Hitler had planned to take over France. His plans were very well thought out and had many parts. His goal was to take over Holland and Luxembourg before he would take over France. While in the process of moving to the English channel he would take over paris. The French were defeated as the Germans had control of the air and the Maginot Line wasnt much help.   • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Germany invaded the Soviet Union. This came much sooner then the learders of the Soviet Union has expected. The Soviet Union didn't have much for military leaders left and the Germans invasion was soon successful. The Germans then moved east onto places such as Moscow. The Soviet Union had now had larger numbers of men and were able to fight back.

  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, which was an American Naval Base. By bombing the naval base the japanese hoped that this would delay the Americans enough so that they would have an oportunity to take over the land that the japanese were after. Unfortunatly for the japanese, their plan failed. Many ships and buildings were destroyed during the attack but that wasn't enough to take down the americans.

  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    Many officials of the Nazi party met in a suburb of Berlin called Wannsee. They met to discuss what they should do as the final solution to the "Jewish question".Many options ere considered. Some Options were moving Jews from camp to camp and working them to death, but it was found to be too time consuming for some prisoners who would live long.   • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    American Planes found Japanese ships and destroyed four of them: whereas only one of the Americans was lost. The Battle of Midway is an important part of the war because it shows that Japan is vunerable and can be beaten.

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    This battle was a very big accomplishment for the Soviet Union. They were able to take on the Germans while they tried to attack the city of Stalingrad. The Germans had enclosed the city and made it hard for them to aviod the attack. The Germans were defeasted by the Soviet Union in the end.

    Operation Gomorrah
    Hamburg, a city in Germany, was involved in a bombing that killed thousands of germans. Prior to this the germans had bombed Britian and so Britian thought it was Germany's turn now.   • Allied invasion of Italy

    Allied invasion of Italy
    The first attack in the invasion of Italy was on an island called Sicily. The second attack was on a city called Messina. The third attack was on Italy. During this time the Germans desided to make Mussolini head of the government again. Him and his mistress were killed and hung publiclay upsidedown in the town of Milan.

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    Germany still had control of alot at this point. Western allies decided to come together and invade France's Normandy Coast. They made Hitler think they would be attacking somewhere else to try to throw him off. On the day of the invasion the allies had control of the air but many were killed in crashes or shot down by Germans. In the bloody battle they tried to divide and conqure in 5 parts and eventually go to the German boarder.

    Warsaw Uprising
    Poland wanted to take their city back. Poland wanted to do so in a timely manner before the Soviet Union tried to take it over. The Polish army looked at their allies for help getting their city back. The Polish army attacked the Germans throughout the city and Stalin wanted Poland for himself.     Operation Thunderclap was a bombing that occured in the city of Dresden, whch is in Germany. The bomb was meant to be used as a distraction. The people of Dresden thought that for some reason they were going to get spared by all of the bombing but they thought wrong. The city was bombed and more then 60,000 people were killed.     Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Battle of Iwo Jima was a battle between the Japanese and the Americans. They both wanted the islands to be used for places to hold their supplies or be an air base. The island itself was very small.     Battle of Okinawa
    This was one of the last battles for the Pacific Islands. The island was very small and many died including women who threw their babies and themselves off a cliff into the sea becasue they were convinced that the americans would torture them. 107,000 Japanese and 13,000 Americans died. 36 ships were sunk and many otheres were damaged.     VE Day is the day that people ceebrate their victory in Europe. Great Britain and the United States both celebrate this day. Some will put out flags, banners, or other decorations to show of the victory over the Nazis.

    Dropping of the atomic bombs
    In August of 1945 a bomb called an American B-29 was fropped on Hiroshima. This single bomb destroyed the whole toen, causeing many deaths. The Japanese still wouldnt surrender after the bimb was dropped on Hiroshima. Soon after, another bomb was dropped. This time on Nagasaki.   • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    In the Hurtgen Forest, German troops were waiting to cause conflict between the Americans and the British in hopes of getting the port of Antwerp which was located in the Netherlands. There was a surpise attack in place and part of the American line was defeated. The British now had time to get the line to more north.
