Germany used U-boats to continuously sink supply ships from North America to Britain between 1939 to 1945. Canada tried to protect their supplies by using corvettes to surround those convoys, which were 50-60 supply ships, and it was very successfully. The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign fought that was totally by air forces. It lasted for three and a half month. The Battle of Hong Kong
The Battle of Hong Kong last from December 8 to December 24 in 1941. The reason why Canada was defending Hong Kong was that Japan attacked the Pearl Harbor and also attacked China for a very long time, Canadian soldiers were trying to protect Hong Kong from the Japanese for the British. However, Canadian soldiers were inexperienced, and Japan had much better weapons. Force 136 was a cover name of an organization under the Allies, lots of Chinese-Canadian serves there. They were destroyed Japanese weapons, bridges, and railways. Japanese Canadians helped create posters, and they also helped translates. After the U.S. dropped the fat man and small boy which was 2 atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan surrendered on Aug. 14, 1945 (V-J Day).

The Battle of Dieppe
The Battle of Dieppe happened on August 19, 1942. The purpose of this battle was that the Allies wanted to use a short raid to attract the Nazis' attention so that they would move soldiers away from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. However, this battle was horrible: It was Canada's worst defeat; many soldiers died, wounded and were caught by the Germans, only 2200 of them went back to Britain. Italy- Operation Husky & The Battle of Ortona
Operation Husky was the beginning of attacking Italy. Canadian took the island of Sicily.
The Battle of Ortona was a very important fought because Ortona was pivotal on the way to Rome, and it was guided by the best Nazi soldiers. Canadian soldiers used a special technique called "mouse-holing", they dug holes in walls so that it became very difficult for Germans to shoot them. It was a successful urban battle. Day of Deliverance: Normandy Landed
D-Day was the largest military operation in Canada during WW2. More than twenty thousands of soldiers landed or off the coast, Canada, U.S., and the Britain attacked Normandy, so that they could take France back from the Germans. War in the Air
The RCAF which was the Royal Canadian Air Force was small in 1939, but in 1945, it became the 4th largest air force in the world. They tried to bomb German cities and factories that made military industries. It was not very worth it, for a lot of pilots died and factories were not destroyed effectively. Canada in Europe: Liberation of the Netherlands
Canada freed the Netherlands from the Nazis by having 7600 soldiers dead or wounded. Canada also gave food to the Dutch people, so the Dutch people were so thankful and happy that they even threw tulips at the Canadians.
The Victory in Europe Day was on May 7, 1945, when Germany surrendered.
