Forming a coalition government, Winston Churchill replaces him. By himself, Churchill soon began talking with U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt for aid to the British cause.

    On the Sunday December 7, 1941, at 7:55 AM, hundreds of Japanese warplanes attack the American Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, based on a plan by Isoroku Yamamoto. Eight battleships, including the U.S.S. Arizona, three light cruisers, three destroyers and four other naval ships are either sunk or damaged. One hundred sixty four American aircraft are destroyed and 2,403 Americans are killed.
