  • Battle of the Atlantic- 5th Most Important

Battle of the Atlantic- 5th Most Important
This was a naval battle taking place for over 6 years in which Germany was fighting the Allies for control of the Atlantic Ocean. This was a key battle for Canada due to the fact that they not only showed that they were able to fly, but were also solid in naval warfare. The Royal Canadian was a major contributor in the Allied Victory. There was lots of help from other Allied forces, but Canada still showed bravery in knowing how dangerous this battle could be yet still fighting.
  • Battle of Netherlands- 1st Most Important

Battle of Netherlands- 1st Most Important
The liberation of the Netherlands was in my opinion the most significant battle fought by Canada and contributed greatly to their iventual independance. Fighting alongside Britain, Canada helped to save the Netherlands from the Nazi's and are still thanked by the Dutch to this day. Every year they are sent hundreds of tulips.
  • Battle of Dunkirk- 7th Most Important

Battle of Dunkirk- 7th Most Important
The Battle of Dunkirk happened when the Nazi's had the allies trapped and they were forced to evacuate. This was somewhat significant for Canada as they showed that they could fight under pressure and when there was large chance of risk, but was not really a very important battle for them.
  • Battle of Britain- 6th Most Important

Battle of Britain- 6th Most Important
The Battle of Britain was the name given to the air campaign of Word War II. It was filled with bombing and air raids. This was Canada's first air involvement in World War II. They finally got to use their highly skilled RCAF Pilots freshly graduated out of Canadian academies, although they had never been in real battle before. They all aided in the efforts as another Allied victory was the final result.
  • Battle of Hong Kong- 3rd Most Important

Battle of Hong Kong- 3rd Most Important
For the majority of the war time, Canada would only enter battles due to Britain instructing them to. The Battle of Hong Kong was the first battle that Canada entered because they wanted to, not because of Britain. although they were in a way still protecting British well being, they made this decision independantly.
  • Battle of Dieppe- 8th Most Important (Least)

Battle of Dieppe- 8th Most Important (Least)
The Dieppe Raid was an Allied attack on the French coast port of Dieppe, occuped by Germans. This battle was brutal for Canada, as they had an unbelievably high number of casualties for a battle that they were told to fight in for no real purpose. This essentially showed that they would go into battle and lose thousands of men if instructed to.
  • Italian Campaign- 4th Most Important

    Italian Campaign- 4th Most Important
The main Allied countries' troops landed in southern Sicily, where Canadians would help gain control of the island. Canadians showed great creativity and quick thinkingby developing the "mousehole" technique to flush out rooms full of enemy soldiers, which proved to be very effective. This proved to all others that Canadians were innovative, brave, and smart soldiers on the battlefield.
  • D-Day- 2nd Most Important

    D-Day- 2nd Most Important
D-Day was the invasion of Europe by the Allied forces. Canada was chosen to take the entire Juno Beach, something that showed that people now believed that Canada was prepared for this major task, and they did not dissapoint. They captured the beach after having to go through tons of German soldiers. In doing this, they showed what they were beginning to be known best for; their ability to persevere through difficult battles.
