    The Battle of the Atlantic
    Sept. 3 1939- May 8 1945
    The Battle of the Atlantic was a naval battle across the Atlantic Ocean, including USA and the Nazis. Canada built a port on St. John's, Newfoundland, as well as in Halifax; they supplied many warships to convoy to Britian and helped repair and service many Allie ships.

  • Dunkirk

    Dunkirk
    May 25 1940- June 3 1940
    The Dunkirk evacuation was the evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk, France. Many men were evacuated and saved, it was against all odds and a miricale that so many people could get out alive. Canada helped to hold off the Nazi troops until the British boats arrived, as well as helped with the evacuation.

  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    July 10 1940- Oct 31 1940
    The Battle of Britain was an air battle, including the Luftwaffe (German airforce), RAF and RCAF (British and Canadian airforces). The RCAF, Royal Canadian Air Force and the RAF, Royal Air Force flew planes and fought in the sky above Britain against the Luftwaffe. The RCAF helped the RAF to bomb Berlin as well as shoot down Nazi pilots that were later caputred on British land. This helped the battle to come to a quick stop.

  • Battle of Hong Kong

    Battle of Hong Kong
    Dec. 8 1941- Dec. 25 1941
    The Battle of Hong Kong was a Japanese attack on China. Canadian troops were stationed in Hong Kong and fought against Japan's attacks. The Canadian troops defended the East Brigade and West Brigade on the island until Hong Kong surrendered. Many people died and were wounded from Canada in this battle, the soilders that lived were taken in Japanese camps as prisoners of war (POW) and were tourtured, starved and many died.

  • Dieppe Raid

    Dieppe Raid
    Aug. 19 1942
    The Dieppe Raid's purpose was for the Allies to split the German forces in two by raiding Dieppe, France. Canadian troops wanted to be part of this battle and when they were finally let in over half didnt make it back to Europe, becuase they were either captured or killed. Not many soliders made it to the beach before getting killed, making this a pointless battle for all the lives that were lost.

  • The Italian Campaign

    The Italian Campaign
    July 10. 1943- April 29 1945
    The Allies and the Canadians fought against Nazi troops to take over Italy. Canadian troops started in the south and moved their way up into the mainland. They fought in the Battle of Ortona, where they fought in anicent streets and used a tactic called "mouseholing" to take over the streets.

  • D-Day

    D-Day
    D-Day was an Allied attack on the beaches of France against the Nazi troops. Canadian troops were assigned their own section to fight on (Juno Beach), instead of being with Britain. Canadians achieved the most on their beach than the other 4 beaches, they got the furthest up the beach from any of the Allies.

  • The Liberation of the Netherlands

    The Liberation of the Netherlands
    May 5 1945
    The Liberation of the Netherlands started with an airborne attack in the attempt to slipt the Nazi forces in half. The Netherlands suffered from the hard fighting. Canada made the final push and forced the Nazis out.
    Significance:1/8
    The Liberation of the Netherlands contributed most to Canada's growing independence because Canada freed the Netherlands almost single handedly. They were also recognized as Canadians, the Netherlands still thanks
    Canada for this action, not Britain.
