German and British air forces fought in the skies above the U.K. Britain also fought against the bombings raids that Hitler initiated. This would continue until the end of October. -

The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, an American naval base, causing damage to around twenty naval vessels. Ultimately, this caused America to enter the war, when Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress if they could declare war on Japan. -
Britain and US declare war on Japan
Declaring war on Japan was a response to Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. By declaring war on Japan this lead to America also being at war with Italy and Germany. -

America defeats the Japanese navy and is able to push them back. This helped America stop playing defense and become the offence. -
Italy Surrenders
When Mussolini was thrown out of office the new government decided to surrender to the U.S. and Britain. As Italy tried to ally with Britain and the U.S. Hitler freed Mussolini and put him in charge of Northern Italy causing alliances to be put of pause. -
D-Day
Allied forces invade northern France. Part of why it worked was, because of false information that was designed to mislead the Germans, and it did. -

Hitler commits suicide with his wife, Eva Braun. However, there are multiple theories of how he died and when. -
Germany Surrenders
German forces in Italy surrender and two days later the German forces in north west Germany, Holland and Denmark surrender. Then, on the seventh an unconditional surrender from Admiral Donitz finishes the surrender of Germany. -
Atomic Bomb Dropped on Hiroshima
When Truman was warned about the atomic bomb he decided to take action and become the first to finish it and the use it. The result was the death of around 150,000 people. -
Atomic Bomb Dropped on Nagasaki
When the first drop of the atomic bomb was not successful in getting Japan to surrender Truman dropped a second one. The result, around 75,000 more people killed. -
Japanese Surrender
After two atomic bombs Japan surrendered. This caused the ending of World War Two. However, the end of one war is the start of a new one.
