    This policy helped maintain peace within countries that were potential enemies during the war. This appeasment did not last long with Hitler and the Axis.

  • Adolf Hitler

    Adolf Hitler was the German dictator and led the nazi party. He was very anti-semitic which was very predjucied aganist the Jewish people. After peral harbor japan, germany, and italy declared war on the United States.
  • Nuremburg Laws

    These laws were made by Hitler amd the Nazis to basically strip Jews from their citizenship. Many of these contribute to what the Jim Crow Laws were.
  • Neutrality Act of 1939

    Franklin Roosevelt was frustrated with the idea of the Nazis taking over. He wanted to give aid to Allies in Europe. By doing this, Congress passed this act which let nations buy goods from the U.S.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    Britain needed help during the war towards Germany. Roosevelt wanted to help so Congress passed the Lend-Lease Act to send billions of dollars for aids to the Allies. This became an ecomic war between Allies and Axis Powers.
  • Pearl Harbor

    As a surprise to the U.S., Japanese forces attacked Hawaii where the U.S. base was located. This event struck the nation and led the U.S. into the war.
  • Douglas MacArthur

    Douglas MacArthur was the commander of the United States army forces in Asia. MacArthur placed his forces to fight off the Japanese invasion, but he misjudged the strenght of the enemy and was forced to back off.
  • Manhattan Project

    This project was the idea from Albert Einstein who wanted to inform the President about atomic development. This let the U.S. use many nuclear weapons during the war. Also, this led to the idea and building the bomb to drop on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
  • Dwight Eisenhower

    Dwight Eisenhower he was the commander of the Allied invasion of North Africa. Eisenhower was the 34th president and he was also a five star general in the U.S army.
  • George S Patton

    George S patton was an innovative tank commander in North Africa. He led his army across the Rhine river and into Germany getting 10,000 miles of land and helping to release the country from nazi rule.
  • War Refugee Board

    Mass killings were being reported once war started. To solve this problem, Franklin Roosevelt put together the War Refugee Board to incorporated the Red Cross to help save thousands of Jews.
  • Holocaust

    As a result of anti-Semitism, Hitler wanted to evacuate almost all the the Jewish population. By doing this, Nazis harshly put Jews and other people who were against Hitlers views, into concentration camps. These camps tortured and scarred many of these families lives.
  • Harry S Truman

    Harry S truman was the 33rd president after Franklin D. Roosevelt had died due to a major stroke. Truman made the decision to use the atomic bomb aganist Japan ending World war II.
  • United Nations

    This organization held more power and disipline than what the League of Nations had. The United Nations helped structure the war from what the League of Nations failed to do. Many of the nations requested for the United Nations to come about.
