Pearl Harbor
Japanese fighter planes attacked US naval base Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. 2,000 Americans were dead, 1,000 injured. Nearly 20 naval bases destroyed. -
America enters war
One day after the Pearl Harbor attack, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked congress to join war with Japan. Only one vote was against the proposal. After two years of conflict, America finally joined WWII. -
Executive Order 9066
Ten weeks after Pearl Harbor, the President made executive order 9066. This removed any person or persons from militarily areas that seemed desirable. By June more than 110,000 Japanese Americans were in internment camps. -

America had finally defeated Japan. They could now change into an offensive position. Only six months after Pearl Harbor. -

Soviets successfully stopped the Germans from advancing into the Soviet Union. Turning point of the war. Known to be the bloodiest battle in history. -

North African campaign ended. Allies surrounded German and Italian militia in Tuscan. This cause them to surrender. -
US and British troops land on Sicily
By mid August Sicily is controlled. It is taken away from Italy and Germany. Called Operation Husky. -
Italy surrenders
Publicly announced that they surrendered. War was still on for them as Germany attempted to take over. They tried to fight back but were easily defeated. -
D-Day
Allies attacked Western Europe. Largest attack in history. Leads to defeat of Germany. -
US Troops land in the Philipoines
US was island hoping. This is the promised return. When the capital fell, the Allies were at an end. War on the islands continued until the end of the war. -
Battle of the Bulge
Hitler attempted to split the allied forces. Last major battle for the Germans. Was fought in Belgium. -
Battle of Berlin
Surrounding Berlin. Soviets last major battle. Practically ended Hitler. -
Hitler commits suicide.
Shot himself in his bunker. His wife also commits suicide. Conspiracy Theory's say it was not Hitler. -
Germany surrenders to West Allies
End of European conflict in WWII. Both Eastern and Western forces surrender. Took place the next day. -

Huge celebration in Europe. People danced in the streets. Official surrender of Germany. -

Germany has now surrendered to everyone. War with Germany is officially over. At first they were only going to surrender in certain areas. -

First atomic bomb in the world. 80,000 people were instantly killed.In the following few weeks, thousands of more people died. -

Invade Manchuria. More than one million soldiers invade. 650 Japanese soldiers dead in first few days -
US drops atomic bomb on Nagasaki
Between 60,000 and 80,000 people instantly killed. Japan ends up surrendering. The bomb was nickname "Fat Man". -
Japan surrenders
WWII Ends. Japanese air force and navy destroyed. Invasion was the bloodiest seaborne attack of all time.
