In China the Communists and the Nationalists were against eachother. The Nationalists tried to attact the Communists but they went on the Long March to escape. The march ws 6,000 miles long. -
Germany Invades Poland: France and Britain Declare War on Germany
Germany used a new strategy called Blitzkrieg or also called "Lightning War" to invade into Poland. After Russia and Germany got into a war over Poland, France and Britain declared war on Germany. -
Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor
Isoroku Yamamoto, who was a naval strategist for Japan, declared a bombing on the U.S. fleet in Hawaii. About 2,300 Americans died and there had been 19 sunken or damaged ships. -
Germany Surrenders
When Hitler suddenly realized that he was losing the war, he married his mistress and they commited suicide the next day. On May 7 Eisenhower had accepted the surrender from the Third Reich. -
United Nations Formed
United States and the Soviet Union joined 48 other countries and then formed the United Nations. It was a international organization that heplped protect members from aggression or future war. -
Allies use Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
A confidential project called the Manhattan Project decided to design a few bombs to see if they could bomb Japan. The two bombs that hit Nagasaki and Hiroshima were called "Fat Man" and "Little Boy". Before they launched these atomic bombs they sent out a warning to Japan, but they didn't respond, so they bombed some of Japan's biggest ports.
