Leaving the League of Nations (Saturday Surprises)
Hitler and Germany left the League of Nations. Hitler said he did this because the treaty forced them to be in it. The Treaty clearly did not force them into it and people knew that too. They just didn't want to question him because they were afraid and didn't want another war. This also shows Hitler that people are afraid to stand up to him at this point. -
First Saturday Surprise (Satuday surprises)
Hitler announced that he was rebuilding the Air Force, reinstating the draft, and rearming the nation. He said this was in matters if "defense" because Germany needed peace and to have that they needed the strongest army. It makes him look like he's planning for something. -
Second Saturday Surprise (Saturday Surprises)
Hitler had his soldiers march into Rhineland and take it over. It was sort of unclaimed land, but protected by France. The Treaty set this land aside and said they could not put troops here. Hitler simply ignored that agreement. When Hitler took this over, France nor Belgium said a word. They were once again afraid of war. -
The meeting about Austria (Taking Austria)
Hitler held a secret meeting with the Austria prime minister about Austria becoming a part of greater Germany. He basically threatened to invade and take it over. The prime minister held a vote so that his people could decide. 99.7% said it was okay, simply because it wasn’t worth fighting for. -
Taking over Austria (Taking Austria)
German troops entered into Austria and no one tried to stop them. Said it wasn't worth fighting for. Hitler mainly went after this land first because it was his homeland. By him claiming this land under Germany makes it so there is no question about his German purity. Taking back this land they gave away broke the Treaty of Versailies also. -
Taking Sudetenland ( Appeasing Hitler )
There was a meeting German, French, and British leaders invited by Italy to discuss whether or not give up Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia to the Germans. They decided to give it to Hitler and Hitler “promised” that this would be the last territorial demand. -
Czech gets taken over (death threats and broken promises)
1939 Hitler takes over all of Czechoslovakia and all world leaders are silent. Also Hitler speaks out about the U.S. but most importantly he breaks his promise and declares return of the city Danzig and part of Poland. Then again he vows that, that will be his last territorial demand. -
" Attack on Gleiwitz " ( Targeting Poland)
Nazis took a group of prisoners from a concentration camp to Gleiwitz, a town on the boarder of Poland. They were dressed in Polish army uniforms so they were shot. They said that they were planning on attacking Gleiwitz. They used this to give a reason for invading Poland. Through out the next the few days the Germans bombed and killed most of all the Jewish areas and people. Then towards the end they would shoot their guns into the air and say they were scaring away Polish criminals. -
Ruling Poland ( Conquests in the East )
Hitler takes over Poland and is changing everything about it to make it his. He renames his territory of Poland Warthegau. Then he calls the rest of it "General Government of Poland." He "aryanizes" Warthegau by deporting Jews, poles, and "gypsies" to the general government. He changed everything about Poland from Schooling of Jews to street restrictions of Jews. -

Taking over Western Europe ( Conquest in the West )
In the spring of 1940 Hitler turned to the west. From a period of time from April to June Hitler conquered Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France. Now Hitler basically conquered Western Europe except Britain. Britain leaders had no plan on giving in and told their people that they would stand up and fight with everything they have against the Nazi party. -
( Invasion of Russia )
Hitler invades Russia to destroy once and for all the Jewish-Bolshevik “menace”. He sent in four different SS units. One to get north Russia, one to get central Russian front, one to get northern Ukraine, and one to get southern Ukraine. By now the killings were very deliberate and routine. -
Not looking good for Germany (The U.S. enter the War)
Japan bombs U.S. Pearl Harbor. Japan whose allies is Germany asks Hitler for support against the US., Hitler accepts that. On December 11 Hitler declares war on the US. At this point now Hitler has US, Soviet Union, and Britain all working to take down Germany. This is where Germany really starts to slow down.
