Germany, being led by Hitler, didn't keep the non agression pact with the soviet union and invaded Poland. France and Great Britain, the allies, declared war on Germany. -
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
In 1941, the Japanese attacked the american fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Many were killed in this tragic event. Afterwards, the US immediately entered the war on the allied side. -
Germany surrenders
Finally, in 1945, the Germans surrendered. The allies had won the war. -
Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Between August to September of 1945, the Allies dropped 2 atomic bombs. One on Hiroshima, and the other on Nagasaki. The allies warned the Japanese, but they didn't respond at all, so the U.S. dropped the bombs that killed thousands of people. -
United Nations formed
In 1945 after the war ended, the United Nations were created, in hopes that there wouldn't be another world war ever again.
