WWII Begins
Germany invades Poland and Japan attacks China. The Axis Powers: Germany, Italy, Japan, and others. The Allied Powers : England, Russia, France, and others (The U.S. would later join due to Pearl Harbor). -
Pearl Harbor
Japan bombed Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) with a fleet of aircraft. Over 18 US ships were destroyed as well as 188 aircraft. The event caused over 2,500 deaths. President Roosvelt declares war on Japan the next day. -
D-Day
U.S., Canada, and England land on the German controlled beaches of Normandy, France. Army Airborne parachute behind enemy beaches. Their mission is the sabotage of German AA guns. -

Hitler’s Suicide and Surrender of Japan
Hitler commits suicide on April 30th, 1945. Days later Germany surrenders. U.S. bombs Japan twice causing them to surrender (Hiroshima and Nagasaki). These two events cause the end of World War II.
