United Nations is formed

The name united nations was thought of by President Roosevelt. 26 represenatives pledged their Governments to continue fighting tpgether against the axis powers.Was forst used in the declaration of the united nations.

First naval battle fought in history. Last from May 4-8.It caused heavy losses on both sides.

Battle of Midway

Jun 3, 1942

Last from Juen 3-6. U.S naval forcesdisabled the Japanese fleet and Midway Island in the Pacific. Its forced Japan into defensive mode and turned the tide of the war in the pacific theater.

Discrimination against Japanese Amercians

After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor Japanese Americans were discriminated against. The U.S was worried about any more attacks. Japanese Americans were forced to live in camps.

Warsaw Ghetto

D-Day

US troops and Allied troops invade Normandy, and France. They fought their way through France and Belgium and into Germany. Russian troops fought from the East.

Germany Surrenders

After two years Germany finally surrendered. America invaded Germany. Many Jews survived but most died from malnutrition.

Atomic Bomb was dropped

Worlds first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. 80,000 people are killed and 35,000 are injuired. This was payback from America for bombing Pearl Harbor.
