    Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    This assassination started the notion of war. It not only angered Austria-Hungary, but also their ally Germany. Then from there, declared a war on Serbia. Not even a week later, Germany declared war on Russia, who angered France for invasion. From there Britain declared war on Germany.

  • World War I Begins

    World War I Begins
    After the assassination which made the first notion to war, the countries began to be angry. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia, Belgium, France, Great Britain, and Serbia were now up against Austria-Hungary and Germany.

    Battle of Gallipoli

    More commotion as war goes on, allied power attempting and failing to claim control over the sea route from Europe to Asia. It began with a failed naval attack on the Dardanelles Straits and invading the Gallipoli Peninsula. The allied power forces not only came out unsuccessful but also lost a lot of people and didn't gain any power or make any moves.

    Lusitania Sinking
    British boat going to Liverpool from New York when a German boat struck the Lusitania causing it to sink. This was one of the reasons why the U.S. joined the war, many Americans died that day. The Germans try to prove their actions as correct by saying the ship was carrying supply’s from America to help the allies.

    Battle of Verdun

    The battle over Verdun in the northeast of France. This was the grimiest, bloodiest battle of WWI. It was between Germany and France, and Germany started it wanting land and power. It didn't come out successful for either of the armies. Not only did they lose thousands of soldiers but they didn't gain anything. The French army was more than the Germans anticipated.

    This was another battle in France while the Battle of Verdun was going on. This was one of the largest battles and in the end the allies and central power would lose 1.5 million men. This was war over the river between the British, French, and Germans. The all lost thousands of soldiers each. This battle was bloody and caused the death of a lot of men.
  • Zimmerman Note

    Zimmerman Note
    A secret telegram sent by Germany to Mexico. This secret telegram states that if America declares war with Germany that Mexico will be Germany's ally and that they would declare war on America. America found out about this note and declared war on Germany, officially bringing them into WWI.
  • Russia Withdraws

    Russia Withdraws
    Russia being poor and not having much, withdraws from WWI. Russia didn't have the necessary knowledge, money, or artillery. They signed a treaty that let them keep the Polish and Baltic territories, the Ukraine, and Finland.

    Russia was in poverty, poor, and broke. Russia hadn't been as advanced as the other countries or states in their area. They entered war despite not having enough resources and food to even feed their soldiers who probably tried to get money from being in war. Russia was broke and going into the WWI affected them horribly.
  • U.S enters WWI

    U.S enters WWI
    America had voted to get into the war and the senate won 82 to 6. Not too soon after the U.S and Germany had beef. The major allies are Great Britain, China, and the Soviet Union.
  • Battle of Chateau-Thierry

    Battle of Chateau-Thierry
    This was a military war, it was on government. The allied powers were the ones who came out victorious. 8,000 U.S marines were given the award of 250,000 american infantry.

    The Americans and French were angry and wanted to cut off parts of the German army. This is the largest America-run offensive battle. America was the leader of what this battle could be. The allies had caught 23,000 German prisoners in one night. They were brutal. The plague was spreading.

    Both sides of the war decided to stop fighting. It was silent and reality was sinking in and now what they thought was going to benefit them left them with anger, hatred, stress, grievance, and a lot of mental and physical issues. People lost so much, and gained so little.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles
    A treaty that ended war between everyone. It made Germany stop the war between the Allied Powers. Surrendered German colonies, return Alsace-Lorraine to France, and return a lot of cultural areas back to who they're supposed to be with.
  • League of Nations

    League of Nations
    This was supposed to prevent war, keep security, disarm those who want war, and settle disputes. The American president made it, but the American population didn't want to join. This league had exposed weaknesses and caused other people and nations to know exactly where to strike.
