One of the worst disasters of the war on May 7th, 1915 when a U-Boat sank the ship off the coast of Ireland. 128 Americans died, as well as 1198 other persons. America then turned against Germany. -

Selective Service Act of 1917
Otherwise known as "the Draft" it required men of a certain age and up to enlist into the military, African Americans were forced to serve in segregated units if called upon. Only 3 million of the 24 that enlisted were called upon. 3/4ths of those 3 million saw combat on the Battlefield. -

This was where a heavy guard of Naval Destroyers escorted merchant ships back and forthe between the Atlantic groups. This cut shipping losses in half. -

Americans helped to throw back the Germans, this helped turn the tide against the Central Powers. And allowed for a mounted offense against the Germans. -
Austria-Hungary surrenders to the Allies
On November 3rd, 1918 Austria Hungary Austria-Hungary surrenders to the Allies, and German sailors mutinied against the government authority. A German republic was established from those who were mutinying. -
Establishment of the German Republic
Socialist leaders in the capital of Berlin established the German Republic, Germany then signed an armistice. -

On the 11th month, day, hour, and minute Germany agreed to Cease-fire. and end the war. -
