  • WW1 begins

    WW1 all started with, The Treaty of London. Great Britain then made their way into the war after Queen Victoria died.
  • Alliances

    There were 6 powers split into 2 alliances in WW1. Britain, France, and Russia formed the Triple Entente. Germany, Australia-Hungary, and Italy joined the Triple Alliance. These alliances had major conflicts that went into war.
  • Imperialism

    Imperialism was one of the causes of WW1. Imperialism is when a higher power controls colonies.
  • Nationalism

    Nationalism is ones love and loyalty towards a country. Nationalism played a role in Europe's confidence, which "fulled" speeches.
  • The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie

    This assassination caused controversy and outrage, but didn't play into WW1.
  • Effects of WWI

    Many had died in WW1, 12 million deaths were recorded. WW1 was known as the first true "modern war". It rose more powerful weapons.
  • Germany's Blank Check to Austria-Hungary

    A telegram was sent to the German ambassador in Vienna. The telegram states how Emperor Franz Josef will stand by Australia-Hungary.

    Militarism played a major role in WW1 for Europe because everyone wanted a strong military.
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    The Sinking of the Lusitania was an event that took place during WW1, and many lives were lost. Germany had warned the ship not to sail, but it did anyway. Germany attacked the ship killing many.
  • Germany's resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare

    Germany pressed play on their unrestricted submarine warfare and planned to defeat Britain.
  • Zimmerman Telegram

    This was a telegram sent to Mexico from Germany. It stated that Germany was going to resume their unrestricted submarine warfare.
  • US entry into the war

    When President Woodrow refused to expand military and economic measures, America stepped in because it tok its toll on the government.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles held Germany responsible for everything. It also put restrictions on Germany. It also tried to help resolve any conflict between Europe.
  • Dawes Plan and Young Plan

    This made Germany come up with better payment plans. Everything began to improve.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression was on of the most hard ties for everyone. The stock markets crashed causing everyone to be in need. It was most extreme in Germany. People lost hope and started looking up to Hitler.
  • Rise of Hitler

    Hitler rose to power. He became the head of Germany overpowering everyone.
