Is There any reason that they should have done this? No.
So they invaded Longwy so the Russians wouldn't invade them. -

The Christmas Break
The German and British forces decide to make a temporary christmas truce, and during this time, the gave each-other presents; such as spam, as well as they played games with the enemies they would soon later kill. -
The Break Is Over
The Christmas truce is over, and now at 12:00 am; everyone starts killing everyone again. -
The First Zeppelin Attack
Germany decides to try to attack Britian from above, so they decide to use the Zeppelins. This is one of the first, and biggest airial attacks; at the time. -
The Beggining of a Battle
Germany has a battle with the Western Front, and during that battle which takes a very long time to finish, they used the first poison gas, leading to further investigations of the toxic gas. -
The Stalemate
Germany was so well matched at the battle which was still going on, they decide to call it a stalemate, leading to holding their positions there until someone made the first move. -
The First Move On Germany
The constant attacking of West Africa finally weakened German defences enough, that they broke thorugh, and took hold of the Germany's South West Africian side, giving them the advantage. -
