World War I

  • Congress of Vienna

    The Congress of Vienna established that Germany and Italy were left as divided states.The objective of the Congress was to provide a long-term peace plan for Europe by settling critical issues arising from the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars.
  • The Franco-Prussian War

    The Franco-Prussian War left France angry at the loss of Alsace-Lorraine to Germany and keen to regain their lost territory because the territory was of France's possesion but culturaly responded to Germany.
  • Unification of Germany

    Germany takes control over the French territory of Alsace- Lorraine.
  • Unification of Italy

    The unification of Italy consolidated different states of the Italian peninsula into the single state of the Kingdom of Italy in the 19th century.
  • Creation of the Alliance System

    The Alliance System started after the Franco-Prussian War by Germany in 1879 and it was designed to protect Germany's hegemony on the European continent.
  • Triple Alliance

    The Triple Alliance was formed by Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary in 1882.
  • Russo Japanese War

    The Russo Japanese War was fought between the Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan over rival imperial ambitions in Manchuria and Korea. It was a huge downfall for Russia because it exposed Russia's organizational weakness.
  • Morocco

    Morocco was given to France by Britain but the moroccans wanted their freedom.
  • Declaration of War III

    Germany declares war on neutral Belgium and invades, designed to defeat France quickly. As a result, Britain declares war on Germany.
  • The Schlieffen Plan

    The Schiefflen Plan involved attacking France through Belgium if Russia made an attack on Germany.
  • Germany's Support

    Germany announced her support for Moroccan independece which then removed due to a deal between Germany and France.
  • Triple Entente

    The Triple Entente was formed by Russia, France and Britain.
  • Balkan Crisis

    Austria-Hungary took over the former Turkish province of Bosnia. This angered Serbians who felt the province should be theirs. Serbia threatened Autria-Hungary with war and Russia, allied to Serbia, mobilized its forces.
  • German Protest

    The Germans were again protesting against French possession of Morocco. Britain supported France and Germany was pursuaded to back down for part of French Congo.
  • Balkans War I

    The Balkan states drove TUrkey out of an area because they wanted their independence.
  • Balkan War II

    The Balkan states fought each other over which area should belong to which state, specially Bulgaria vs. Serbia because they both wanted to expand.
  • Alliance

    Germany allies with the Ottoman Empire which was the Turkey empire.
  • Disaster Strikes

    Assassination of the Austrian Archiduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife.
  • Declaration of War I

    Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia because he thought that the Serbian empire was the killer of the Archiduke Franz Ferdinand.
  • Russia mobilizes

    As an ally of Serbia, Russia announces full mobilization of her armed forces.
  • Germany mobilizes I

    Germany mobilizes her armed forces and declares war on France.
  • Germany mobilizes II

    Germany occupied Luxembourg as a preliminary implementation of the Schliefen Plan
  • Declaration of War II

    Germany declares war on France.
