    Germany invades Poland. World War 2 begins, and the death of many is to come. This is significant because it is the beginning of the war that killed many.

    Canada entering the war was a big help to the allies. Our country helped largely economically, but also lent military help. We also contributed respected and feared soldiers, nicknamed "storm troopers".

    Japan joining the war meant more trouble for the allies. They were the cause of the loss of many battles for the allies. Even months after the war, there were still some Japanese holdouts.

    The "scorched earth" strategy was a huge sucesss for the Russians. The German troops were devestated. This strategy caused a victory that was very important to the allies.

    Romania surrenders to the Russians. Germany's only source of natural oil came from Romania, meaning Germany was now at a huge disadvantage. The axis is slowly approaching defeat.

    Hitler commits suicide because the axis is losing. He appointed Admiral Doenitz as his successor, but without Hitler the German Army falls apart. Also, Hitler's suicide is a huge demoralization for the German troops.

    Germany finally surrenders after numerous defeats. This meant near victory for the allies. The reign of terror is finally almost over.

    Japan finally surrenders. In order to achieve their victory, the allies dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This marks the end of World War 2.
