    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    Germany forced Poland to being on land, as Adolf Hitler wanted to regain his land that he had lost from Poland. Germany invaded Poland because they wanted to get their land back that Poland has. The whole Poland army was defeated within weeks of the war. The effect of the war was that Germany regained their land back from Poland.

    German Blitzkrieg

    Germany quickly overran much of Europe and was victorious for more than two years by relying on a new military tactic called the Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg tactics required the concentration of offensive weapons along a narrow front.The result was short military campaigns, which preserves human lives.
  • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris
    A German invasion of France during World War 2, as the Germans were trying to conquer France. German bombers hit air bases in France. After a chaotic period of flight of the French government, the French army collapsed. The effect of the Fall of Paris, was that the French army collapsed.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    A devastating surprise attack by the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor, which is a naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii. Japan attacked thee United States, because that meant that the US would have to enter World War 2. The impact was that this attack caused 2400 people dead, 200 planes destroyed, and 8 battleships destroyed. The major effect was that this effect brought the US into the war, that they have been avoiding for so long.

    D-Day

    The United States and allied troops invaded at Normandy. This was the largest air, land, and sea invasion in history. The goal was to surprise Germany, but Germany was ready to fight. It was the beginning of the end of World War 2. D-Day forced the Germans to fight a two front war again just as they had in WWI. Yet again the Germans could not handle war on both sides of them. The result of this event was that about a million Allied troops had reached France.

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was the last major German offensive on the Western Front during World War 2. This was an unsuccessful attempt to push the Allies back from German territory. The result of this battle was that the Germans lost many troops and some equipment during this battle.
  • Battle of the Iwo Jima

    Battle of the Iwo Jima
    The American invasion of Iwo Jima, a key island in the Bonin chain roughly 575 miles from the Japanese coast. Iwo Jima was defended by roughly 23,000 Japanese army and navy troops, and it was attacked by three marine divisions. Bombs were launched during the battle. The result of this battle was American losses included 5,900 dead and 17,400 wounded.

    Battle of Okinawa
    The battle was the largest amphibious landing in the Pacific theater of World War 2. Two United States Marine and two Army divisions landed on Okinawa, they faced about 155,000 Japanese ground, air and naval troops holding an immense island on which an estimated 500,000 civilians lived in cities, towns and villages. The impact was that This war resulted in 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 casualties for the Allies.

    VE Day
    A public holiday to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War 2 by the Nazi Germany's surrender of it's armed forces. On this day, Hitler killed himself and Nazi Germany declared an end to war. The impact was that VE day officially announced the end of war in Europe.

    Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
    The American bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb over a Japanese city. The dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan marked the end of World War 2. However, this could've been the start to the Cold War. America dropped the 5-ton bomb because it was a weapon that would bring the war to a speedy end. The bombs dropped were the only nuclear weapons to ever be used in war.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day
    This day had been selected by the Allies after they named VE Day. On this day, a formal surrender ceremony was performed in Japan, aboard the battleship USS Missouri. Along with holding a ceremony, it was announced that Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, ending World War 2. The result of this day was that this effectively ended World War 2.
  • Liberation of Concentration Camps

    Liberation of Concentration Camps
    Many of these prisoners had survived forced marches into the land of Germany from camps in Poland. These prisoners were suffering from starvation and disease. Soviet forces were the first to approach a major concentration camp. Prisoners were freed during the liberation of concentration camps. These people were freed to get out of starvation and the rough times. The impact was that all these people suffering in the concentration camps were now free.
