Since Japan was resisting to surrender, the United States along with the Allies decided to drop a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima. This bomb would wipe out the entire population of a city and have devastating effects on the country. -

After the surrender of Germany and the end of the war in Europe, the only country left to surrender was Japan. When Japan refused to surrender, the Allies dropped their atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. -

Victory over Japan Day was the day when Japan finally surrendered. -
