Known as Sino-Janpanese War. conflict that broke out when China began full-scale resistance to the expansion of Japanese influence. This cause the U.S. to enter world war 2 because Japan then tried to take the enitire Pacfic side. They then attacked the U.S to make sure they didn't intervene in their conquest. -

Germnay invaded Poland to gain back the territories they lost in the Treaty of Versailles. The effect of this fueled Hitler's need for power and land. -

The U.S and Great Britian issued a joint declaration which set out a vison for the postwar world. In January 26 Allied nations pledged thie support for this declaration. -
Pearl Harbor
Hundres of Japanese Airships attacked Pearl Harbor to try temporarily slow down the U.S Navy so Japan could complete their conquest fo the Pacific without any resistance. Instead the U.S. decalred war on Japan which borught them into WOrl dWar 2 because Japan was allied with Germany. -
Bataan Death March
After the surrender of the U.S on the Bataan penisula and estimated 75,000 Filipinos and Americans were forced to march 65 miles to prison camps. Thosands died in this march which gave it its name. -
Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad is considered one of Soviet Union's greatest patriotic battles. This was a successful battle of defending Stalingrad (known as Volgograd today) and was marked as the turning of the tide in the war. -
D-day
Also known Battle of Normandy. On D-day 156,000 American, British, and Candaian forces landed on 5 beaches on a 50 mile stretch of the coast of France. This was one of the largest military assaults. The success of the battle removed all German troops from northwestern France. The vicotry of Normandy turned the tide against the germans. -

As the Allies crossed Europe defeating German forces the encountered tens of thousands on concentration camps with prisoners suffereing from starvation and disease. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima awas needed for the U.S. to build a base near the japenese coast. Iwo Jima was defended by 23,000 japanese soldiers and was diffuclt to fight because Iwo Jima had undergorund tunnels for the japanese forces to use. The victory of Iwo JIma brought new hope and morale for the U.S. soldiers -
Battle of Okinawa
One of the last and biggest Pacific island battles of World War 2 the OKinawa battle involved 287,000 U.S troops and 130,000 japanese troops. The U.S needed to win so they could get the air bases that were vital to the Japanese invasion. -
VE day
VE day stands for Vicotry in Europe which was celebrated in the U.S and Great Britain. This was celebrated from the Nazi forces surrendering ending the fight in Europe. -
Dropping of the atomic bomb o Hiroshima
The world's first atomic bomb was drooped on Hiroshima destroying 90 percent of the city and kiling and estimated 80,000. Ten of thousands of people died later due to radation exposure. The emperor failed to surrender even after the destroying of the city, so the U.S sent another bomb three days later. -
Dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki
The worlds second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagaskai killing and estimated 40,000 people. This caused the jpanaese emperor to surrender to the allies ending World War 2. -

Also kown as Victory in Japan. The japanese emoeror surredered to the Allies due to the destryoing of a seoncd city by an atomic bomb.
