German scientists have discovered that nuclear fission is possile. This was before WWII started. This led the way for seeral countries to start investigating the atomic bomb. However, the Germans have a lead. -

Germany invades Poland. WW11 begins in Europe. This led the way for several other countries to declare war. Germany is easily able to defeat Poland, as Poland's soldiers are are on horseback and the Germans have tanks. -

Despite the treaty Hitler had with Denmark, Germany attacked Denmark and Norway. The Axis was easily able to defeat the countries. -

The MIT Raidition Labratory begins working on a microwave based radar. They incorperate British magnatron technology into their work. This system is used to detect planes. -

Germany firebombs London. This is the most destructive bombing of London yet. However, Germny does loose several aircraft in the process. -
U.S. begins Manhatten Project
The U.S., acting on British reports, begin to develop the atomic bomb. The British reports stated that the bomb was possible. Famous scientists, such as Albert Einstien, worked on the bomb. This was the largest millitary project to date. -
Britian breaks German Enigma codes
The British have sucsessfully broken the German's millitary codes. They are now able to get Germany's plans before they happen. This is one of the major turning points of the war. -
Germany opens "Death Camps"
Germany begins gassing Jewish prisoners at "Death Camps". The Germans killed several million people. At other camps, the Germans used the prisoners for labor. This was the worst Genoside in history. -
Germans stopped in Moscow
In October 1941, the German invasion of Russia stopped outside of Russia. Cold weather and short supplies drained the German army. Finally, a Russian offensive stopped the German invasion. this was the farthest east the Germans would ever get. -
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
Japanese fleets launched a bombing raid on Pearl Harbor. This is where the U.S. battleship fleet was stationed, and it was severly crippled. This attack promped the U.S. to Declare war on Japan. The U.S. had entered WWII. -
Germany and Italy declares war on the U.S.
Due to their alliance with Japan, the two countries delcare war on the U.S. The U.S. had been sending supplies to the allies. They now begin sending troops to Europe to help defeat the Germans. -

Six months after Pearl Harbor, the U.S. launched an invasion on the Japanese naval fleet. The U.S. had a decisive victory. This was the first of many victories for the U.S. fleet against Japan. -
Battle of Normandy
The allies land over 200,000 troops in Normandy, France to start the assult on the Germans. Led by U.S. Generals, this was the largest (and bloodiest) attack in the war. Paris was recaptured 2 months later. -
FDR Dies
FDR is dead. Harry Truman takes over as president, and continues on FDR's goals for the war. Truman knows nothing about the atom bomb, and is breifed after taking office. -
Germany Surrenders
Germany surrenders to the Allies. Germany is split up into four parts. Hitler commits suiside. The war is over in Europe! -
U.S. Drops atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Because Japan refuses to surrnder, the U.S. dropped the atom bom on 2 Japanese cities on Aug. 6 and Aug. 9. The blasts kill hundreds of thousands of people. It is still debated weather this was the best solution to the war. -
Japan Surrenderes
Japan surrenderes to the U.S. onboard an American battleship. This was due to a series of victories by the U.S, as well as because of the atom bomb.
