Vehicles
The Treaty of Versailles had imposed severe restrictions upon Germany constructing vehicles for military purposes, and so throughout the 1920s and 1930s. That was when the German arms manufacturers and the Wehrmacht had begun secretly developing tanks. French and British tanks were at a disadvantage compared to the air supported German armoured assaults and lacked armoured support to the rapid Allied collapse in 1940. -
Parking Meter
The parking meter is a devic for generating money from a parking spot. The parking meter was invented by Carl C. Magee of Oklahoma City, USA. The first meter was installed in Oklahoma City and Magee holds a patent for a "coin controlled parking meter" field on May 13 1935 and issued on May 24, 1938. -
Aircraft
The French Air Force had 1562 planes and was together with 1070 RAF planes facing 5,638 Luftwaffe fighters and fight-bombers. Most French airfields were located in north-east France an overrn in the early stages of the campaign. The Luftwaffe was able to achieve air superiority over France in 1940 giving the German military an immense advantage in terms of reconnaissance and in telligence. -
Fashion
Sweaters were very popular in the 1940s Some factory owners wouldnt let women wear sweaters. Some sweaters were supposidly dangerous and could get caught in machinery. For the first few years after the war, the fashion was to take place. Some American designers responded with designs of great luxury and dress like the evening dress. The Naked Sandal was one of the cool sandals. -
Submarines
One month after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the USS Pollack sank a Japanese freighter off Tokyo Bay. American submarines sank five and one-half million tons of Japanese shipping over half the entire Japanese Merchant Fleet.U.S. sub campaign deprived Japanese industr of raw materials and effectively shut down Japans economy. The price of success was high, 52 American submarines and 3500 sailors remain on eternal patrol. -
Atomic Bomb
The Atomic Bomb helped make an invasion of Japan unnecessary. A B-29 called Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb used in warfare on the city of Hiroshima. Injuries from the two bombings were about equal to deaths. The Japanese realized that they were helpless if one tomic bomb could cause so much damage. August 14th the Allies received a message from Japan accepting the surrender terms.
