    World War Two

Worl War Two was started due to the German invasion of Poland. This violated the Treaty of Versailles. Soon, Italy and Japan were with Germany and we were with France and Great Britian. When the bombing of Pearl Harbor occured, we officially joined the war. After months of fighting, the war was ended by the liberation of many of the camps, Adolf Hitler commiting suicide, and Japan surrendering when we dropped two atomic bombs.

    Executive Order 9066
President Roosevelt was concerned with all the Japanese in America. So he signed a paper that aloud all Japanese Americans to be put in internment camps to keep our country safe. These were simialr to the German concentration camps, just dialed down a little. They were still very wrong, and we sent money and letters of apology to the survivors.

    The Bataan March
America and the Phillippines were at war with Japan. We were suffering and even General John MacArthur had to be sent home. Japan easily took the battle and were stuck with thousands of prisoners. To make it easier on themselves, they made them march many miles in hope that many would fall ill or dead. This plan did work and not many Ameircans survived.

In an effort to turn the war around, General Eisenhower launched Operation Overload. Behind the scenes, American soldiers paracchuted over enemy lines with planes providing cover. 3.5 million soldiers took part in this suprise attack to take the beaches of Omaha, Sword, Gold, Juno, and Normandy. Hitler thought this was all a big joke, so he didn't send any back up and that led to a great US victory. This was a great success for us, as we only lost 10,000 casualties.

    Auschwitz Liberation
One of the biggest German camps during the Holocaust era was Auschwitz. This was probably one of the biggest and most commonly known camp, as it was both a death and concentration camp. Horrible things were done at Aushwitz, medical experiments, gasssing, working to the death, beatings, burinings, and just gruesome acts. The Americans knew that this camp was bad news, and of course we liberated it and set the prisoners free if they weren't already on a death march.

The US flag was posted on Mount Suribachi which is a volcanic mountain and was the only geographical landmark on a pretty falt island.

    Bombing of Hiroshima
America had been at war with Japan for quite some time now. We knew that this war had the potential to drag on and on with a high cost of lives and money. We had a feeling that other countries were working on an atomic bomb, so we knew that we had to build one first. Turns out, we created one with great potential and threatened Japan with it. When there was only laughter, we had to drop two to get the point across. They surrendered and we won the war!
