Archduke Assassination
Governor of the Austrian provinces invited Archduke Franz Ferdinand to watch his troops on maneuvers. Franz knew many people living in Bosnia-Herzegovina were unhappy with Austrian rule and wanted Serbia to rule instead. The black hand was a group that wanted Bosnia-Herzegovina to leave the Austro-Hungarian empire. Dimitrijevic sent 3 men from the black hand to assassinate the archduke, and they were instructed to commit suicide after. Gavrilo Princip shot and killed the archduke and his wife. -
