Historical Pespective: Tensions were running high between the Austria-Hungarian empire and the Serbs for months now and this cemented the start of a change for both nations. It caused Serbia and Austria-Hungary to go to war (eventually). Historical Significance: This event was the first domino that fell to begin World War 1. Many believe it was the event that caused World War 1 to come to fruition. -

Germany signs the Armistice of Compiègne, war is unofficially over.
Historical Significance: The fighting from the Germans had finished, and all of the actors had stopped fighting. Techinically the war was over, just nothing was signed at the time. Historical Perspective: Everyone was relieved that the fighting was ended, and that soldiers could return home. -
Official ending of World War 1, meeting of League of Nations in London
Historical Significance: Ended the greatest war the world had seen until then. Peace had finally been reached (atleast politically). Historical Perspective: Many people were angry over how long the war had taken, but most were glad that it was over.
