On this day, Germany declared war on France, because France had said that they were going to help Russia by backing them up. Germany also invaded neutral Belgium. -

Britain declared war on Germany, because when Germany invaded Belgium, it seemed as a serious threat to Britain. Within hours after this incident they declared war. -

This was the first battle fought in the first world war. British Empire and France Empire fought against German Empire. -

The British use tanks for the first time in war. They aren't very helpful because of their weapons, but they were good at breaking things such as barbwire. -

The democratic president Woodrow Wilson defeated the supreme court Justice Charles Evans Hughes which was a republican. The Democratic was very neutral, and wanted peace. -
The Zimmerman Telegram (EU)
The Zimmerman Telegram was a way of communication that the British created to send secret messages to their allies during the war. This was wasn't good for America because they wanted to stay neutral. When they were allied, they had to make trades. If their allies lost war, they would of lost their money. -
(EU) Submarines Back
Britain resumes the submarine warfare to the waterways of the Europeans. The US gets angry, and go into war. Instead of this being a benefit to Germany, it benefited the US because they defeated Germany. -
(US) Woodrow Wilson asks Congress to Declare War
Woodrow was a democrat, and wanted the everyone else to be as well. 4 days later the votes were bigger for wanting a war to begin. -
(US) United States Declares War on Germany
On this day congress had granted the request to have a war between the United States and Germany. -
(US) Selective Service Act
Wilson sign the selective service act, and congress passes it. The selective service act is to be able to create an army to be able to go and fight into war. Many people were angry because they didn't have a choice to be in the war or not. -

This was the first battle fought by the Americans. This was a small battle, but it was a starting point for even larger ones onto Germany. -

This was another battle fought by American soldiers, and Germany troops which was a lead to the next big battle against Germany. -

This battle was fought on an open field of wheat. It all started with the US marine corps attacking Germany. There was a lot of suffrage. This lasted 20 days. It caused 10,000 American casualties, but they won. -

General Pershing was the commander of the American troops. There were 300,000 throwing themselves onto the Germany lines to where they were fighting.
