World War begins
Archduke Francis Ferdinand was assassinated. He was murder at Sarajevo, this started World War and was known as the war to end all wars. 8 millions soldiers and sailors died and 20 million were injuried. -

Around the time Serbia was preparing for war, Russia came to Serbia's defense and the other Allied Powers including France, Italy, Great Britain and later the United States. Commuists seize power in Russia
Lenin had already decided that the workers were incapable of leading themselves as they did not have the necessary skills. He and other trained revolutionaries would do it. Lenin promised the people of Russia a number of things. The first was that he would pull Russia out of the war. This proved extremely popular especially among soldiers. By Autumn the alliance of the Central Powers was unraveling its war efforts against the Allied Powers, they were exhausted and running low on supplies and were forced to take a armistice to end WWI.
