    Trench war fare

    this is the way that the solders faught. it didnt really help since no one would do anything other than hide. but that also gave everyone trench foot.
  • Christmas truce

    instead of sitting alone for Christmas the opposing sides got out of the trenches and shook hands. this was just for Christmas and after that it was back to fighting. but it was nice for them to come together for the holiday.
  • Luciainaia Sunk

    a British ship was sunk while we had passengers on board. we weren't mad enough to join the war just yet but we were very close.
  • second Battle of the Marne

    it was the final attack from Germany. but they could not win against the allied forces. a countermeasure lead by the U.S. made the end for Germany.
  • Zimmerman telegram

    this was a telegram that was intercepted by Britain. it came from Germany and was sent to Mexico. Germany promised to get land that we owned back for Mexico. This is when we joined the war.
  • enlistment

    Buckels enlisted on August 14, 1917. He joined with no prior services. Buckles was not qualified to be a gunner, marksmen, or rating. But he still went to war for his country.
  • treaty of versie

    this was the thing that ended World War 1. they came to the agreement that Germany was to blame and needed to pay for everything. along with losing land and military forces. this made Germany mad.
  • honorable discharge

    Buckles was discharged from the armed forces in 1919 after the war ended. later he tried and got into the armed forces again. He could never really settle back into civilian life.
  • japans prisoner

    after being attacked by japan Buckles became a prisoner of war. He spent three years as a prisoner and then was released.
