They went overseas on German ships and the Germans Sabotaged the ship and it took the government a couple months to get the ship fixed and things like that. After the ship was fixed thy went their way from New York to France after being overseas for 4 days the ship broke down because the boiler room couldn't keep up steam so they turned around and went back to New York to there old camp ground and was there for a couple weeks. -

The national guard was mobilized through all of the U.S and they were sent to the Mexican border for nine or ten months, Arnold said that was one of the most frustrating times of his life and that it was a political mess and there was really nothing for them to do. The weather was hot, there were lots of bugs, they had camera's on them all the time and he said the food was terrible they only had 19 cents a day and it was a strict diet, Beans, Mac and cheese, Salmon. -

Arnold had a brother named Howard and when Arnold was on requiting duty his brother wanted to join but he couldn't pass the physical and he had a rupture, So he went to the hospital and had his rupture done and when he went back home Arnold's company was full So he enlisted into a different company and went to France and when Howard got into the trenches Arnold managed to help him get back into the company with Arnold and was in the war with Arnold.
