Balkan Wars
It was a conflict that ravaged in Southern Europe in 1912-1918. There were two initial Balkan Wars that resulted in huge consequences. The First Balkan War was with the Ottoman Empire who declared war on the Bulgarians. Later both sides went into a trench war which ended in a treaty. In the Second Balkan War Bulgaria attacked Greece and Siberia over land. This war ended in the Treaty of Bucharest giving Bulgaria's brief occupation of Adrianople. -
Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were taking a trip to Bosnia for a state visit. On their way there Siberian terrorists threw a bomb into their open car and they nearly escaped death. Later that day they they went past a Siberian Nationalist who shot them at point-blank range. This was not a good thing to do especially what happened. Austria-Hungary mad, and Germany as an ally declared war on Siberia due to the assassination. -
World War I Begins
WWI was caused by fighting in the Middle East because of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. It was inevitable at this point because the fights have already begun. Other countries like Russia, Germany, and France joined in. This lead to even more problems throughout the countries. Hopefully today we can learn from our past mistakes and move on. -
Lusitania sinks
A German U-Boat shot a torpedo at a British luxury ship killing 1,128 people including 128 Americans. This eventually led America into WWI and destroyed America relations with Germany. However, the Lusitania was secretly modified for war carrying weapons and supplies from the United States to Europe. Germany knew of this secret warship and shot it down well aware that there were civilians aboard the ship. When the boat was sinking Germany tried to save the civilians aboard but clearly failed. -
Zimmerman note
British codebreakers intercepted a message on the telegraph made by Arthur Zimmerman. The note was intended for Heinrich Von Eckardt the German Ambassador to Mexico. When it was de-coded they found that it was a set of instructions to the ambassador to sign a secret war alliance with Mexico if America went into war. Soon after the note was on front pages of news in America which lead to Germany's alliance with America gone. This then would have lead to America joining Allied Forces. -
Russian Revolution
The Revolution marked the end of the Romanov Dynasty and Russia's Imperial rule. They were overpowered by the Bolsheviks who would later become a Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The revolution happened because of a corrupt government and the poverty they lived in. The Bolshevik Party was lead by Vladimir Lenin and launched a bloodless coup d'etat against Duma's provisional government. Then the Russian Civil War broke out eventually leading to Lenin's victory establishing the Soviet Union. -
U.S. Enters WWI
The U.S. joined its allies Britain, France, and Russia in WWI. They were under the command of Major General John J. Pershing, and two million other U.S. soldiers joined. Many factors played into why America joined WWI one being the assassination of Ferdinand and also the sinking of the Lusitania. After the war it out on many other changes such as women voting with the ratification of the 19th amendment. -
The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
Consistent Russian military defeat brought the Russians to terms with the Central Powers. It was signed between the new Bolshevik Russian government and Central Powers. The treaty ultimately ended Russia's participation in World War 1. It was signed at Brest-Litovsk. The treaty ensured that Soviet Russia defaulted on all Imperial commitments to Triple Entente Alliance. -
Armistice
Even though fighting still happened elsewhere it did end the fighting of Germany and the Allied Powers. This was the first step of ending WWI. Soon Austro-Hungary and Italy signed an armistice as well as the Middle East. It was also supposed to prevent any further fighting with Germany in the future. Sadly enough it did not prevent another major World War from happening. The Armistice left lots of people in relief and grief after it was signed. -
Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles officially ended WWI and was negotiated in Paris. The Treaty included 15 parts and 440 articles and was written mainly amongst the U.S. allies, very few the Germans. Germany agreed to pay reparations under the Dawes Plan and the Young Plan. However, it was canceled in 1932 just around Hitler's rise to power and the Great Depression. First Meeting of League of Nations
This first meeting was held on council in Paris six days after the Treaty of Versailles. This happened to ensure prevention of any further wars. They even settled disputes through diplomacy and negotiation. They also improved global warfare. It was a change for the world to better themselves and become a better world.
