A Mexican bandit named Pancho Villa was using the US for weapon supplies, he was caught getting the supplies and the American military went out to try to get him. The military failed which was a wake up call that America needed to be more prepared incase of them getting involved in the war. -

A battle carried out to November 1916 in which French/British soldiers bombed the German line in an attempt to destroy the German barbed wire defenses but only ended up making no man's land even more of a mess and even more difficult to walk through. 420,00 British soldiers, 200,000 French soldiers and 500,000 German soldiers all died during the 5 month war. -

Woodrow Wilson won the election of 1916 by a very close margin. Wilson seemed like he didn't want to go to war, proving that the majority of US citizens did not want the US to get involved at the time of the election. -

Zimmerman (the secretary of state in Germany) sends a telegram to Washington to be forwarded to The German Ambassador of Mexico. The telegram was about convincing Mexico to become allies with Germany and to attack the US. However, Britain was spying on the US and found the telegram decoded it and later warned the US. -
