Panama Canal opens
The Panama Canal was supposed to open in the beginning of 1915. There was going to be a great big celebrations but it was canceled because of WW1. On August 15, 1914 the SS Ancon sailed through the panama canal at Gatun lake. This is important to World war 1 because germanys submarines kept getting near the canal and that was upsetting amaericans, which also brought tension, and helped with american involvement in WW1. -
