July 4th 1776 the 2nd Continental congress adopted the declaration of independence. The United States was established as an independent nation. Government exist to protect individual rights “ Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness”. -

Burgoyne’s British boobs were defeated by colonist. This was also the turning point in the war. -

The Americans in French trapped general Cornwallis’s army at Yorktown, Virginia -
The treaty of Paris
Ended the American revolution. Benjamin Franklin was the chief navigator. Land much larger than the original 13 colonies was acquired. -
The constitution
The constitution of the United States established America’s national government and fundamental laws. Also guaranteed some basic rights to its citizens.
