    On this date slavery in America was abolished. A law went into affect to end slavery and to make in illegal. This law said that slavery, nor involuntary servitude was allowed, unless it was punishment for a crime.

    On this day Hitler and his army invade Poland. It is estimated that 1.5 million German soldiers attacked and invaded the country. Polish airfields were bombed and German warships attacked Polish Naval forces.

    On this date Prisoners that were left at Auschwitz are freed by Soviet troops. The majority and the rest of the prisoners were forced out of the camp before the Soviet troops arrived and were led on a death march.

    On this day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He was killed while he was riding in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas.

    On this day the Berlin Wall in Germany was taken down. The Berlin Wall was a guarded barrier that divided the city of Berlin. The wall is seen as a symbol of the Cold War, and was used to separate the Eastern communist side of Berlin, and the Western democratic side of the city.

    During this year the apartheid in South Africa was ended. The apartheid was a period of time when non-whites and whites were separated in South Africa. The whites lived lavish, expensive, and very comfortable live. While everyone who wasn’t white lived in poverty and lived in places that were filthy and not nice at all.

    On this day America experienced a terrorist attack. Terrorists hijacked four planes that day. Two crashed into the Twin Towers in New York. One hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C. The fourth one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania and was thought to be headed towards the White House.
