John White who was the governor of the colony Roanoke left the colony to go get supplies from England. Jamestown
Established by the Virginia company of London (joint stock company). Only 38 of the original 150 settlers survived mainly because the winter was very bad. John Smith became their leader and said “those who didn’t work wouldn’t eat” -

Maryland
Maryland was a southern colony settled in 1632 by a man named Lord Baltimore. The colony was a Proprietary colony. After lord Baltimore died his son took over and started offering 100 acres of land to any married couple who would come and settle, and this opportunity was took over by protestants. -
Rhode Island
Originally a New England colony, and was settled by a man named Roger Williams and his supporters. Roger Williams was originally banished from the Massachusetts Bay colony for speaking against the government, which led to him making sure their was no religious persecution of Christians in Rhode Island. Bacon’s Rebellion
Bacon organized a militia that was unauthorized and contained servants, slaves, and farmers. Bacon and his men attacked and successful destroyed Jamestown. The rebellion ended after he died from what we assume was dysentery. -

Salem Witch Trials
In Salem Massachusetts a young girl claimed to be “possessed by the devil” and accused women of witchcraft, this spiraled into multiple people being accused. 150 people were imprisoned, and a total of 19 women and men were found guilty. (Mr.Browns U.S. History Notes from class.) -
