Feeding America
In 1901, Lizzie Black Kander publishes The Settlement Cook Book. It was also known as the book that started to truly feed America. This women started something most of us use to this day, and that is cook books. This book showed that women wanted to help other women around the country learn how to cook, and help out their family. -

Triangle Factory Fire
A fire broke out in the Triangle Waist Factory building and it ended up killing 146 women. This was due to all the strict laws and rules they had on women in the work place. After this happened women were more free, and more safety laws were created. This event made all work places safer, and more secure. -
The 19th Amendment
The 19th Amendment had a long journey from 1878 to 1920 when it was ratified and passed. This Amendment gave every women what they wanted and that was to be equal to their male counter part.It was th huge step women needed to let them know they were equal. They finaly had the right to vote, and have a choice. -
"My Day"
Eleanor Roosevelt started to right her "My Day" column. It went all the way until September 27, 1962. This column was read by over 4 million women in the nation. This gave a lot of women hope, and showed them they had a first lady that was just like them. She will always be remembered for this column. -
The United Nations
Eleanor Roosevelt is appointed by President Truman to serve as the United State delegation in the United Nations. She showed many American women, and women all over the world they could make a diffference. She had the control of Americas security and national view in her hands. This lady will always be remembered as a top figure for this nation. -
Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat on the bus to a white male. She shows that it shouldn't matter where we sit on the bus. She was arrested and spent a couple days in jail and then later released. This event caused a 381 day protest from riding the Montgomery Public Bus system. This then caused the bus system to suffer heavily, and finaly allow segregation on their buses to end. -
The Peace Corp
The Peace Corp was founded by a group of men and women wanting to make a difference in this world. This is more women then men histroy, because it was the idea of a group of women. they wanted to give other countries a chance to have true peace. This group picked up huge numbers in the 1960's and to this day it still exists. The Peace Corp has saved and changed millions of lives. -
Alice Paul
The Alice Paul Memorial March was held in Washington D.C. Over four thousand people marched in this march, and showed the respect for Alice Paul. She was a key leader in women suffrage across the United States, and got to see women become equal before she passed away. She made a true change in this country for women. -
Barbara McClintock
Barbara McClintock wins the Nobel Peace Prize. At the age of 81 she won the Nobel Peace Prize, and was one of the few women in the world to do so. She set standards in science that are still there today. -
Mae Jemison
Mae Jemison becomes the first women of color to go and be in space. She showed all women of color that they can do whatever they wwant to in life, and if they want to be an astronaut, then they can be one. This was another great milestone for women of color. -
Condoleezza RIce
Condoleezza Rice becomes the first African American women Secretary of State. Under the President George W. Bush, and she becomes the first and only African American women to hold that position to this day. -
Hilary Clinton
Hilary Clinton is honored at the Capitol's Statuary Hall for the 30 year anniversary of women's history month. She becomes first Secreatary of State to be honored at such an significant event.
