First Women's Rights Convention
The convention was held in a chapel in New York. 300 people, both men and women, attended the convention. In the end, about 68 women and 32 men signed he Declaration of Sentiments. -
First National Women's Rights Convention
Nearly 1,000 men and women attended to discuss unequal treatment that women had to endure. The convention contiuned anually. -
Formation of the National American Woman Suffrage Association
The NAWSA was the combination of the NWSA and the AWSA. Memebership was around 7,000 people, however, this eventually grew to 2 million. -
Colorado grants women the right to vote
First state to pass a women's suffrage law, Colorado allows women the right to vote. In 1894, a few women were elected into legislature. Other states followed suit. -
Formation of Women's Trade Union League
Advocate of better and equal working conditions for women. -
Proposal of 19th Amendment
Congress proposed the 19th Amendment in June of 1919. This amendment prohibits any citizen of the United States from being denied the right to vote based on their sex. -
Ratification of the 19th Amendment
The amendment was ratified, however, certain states, mostly in the South, took longer to ratify it. -
