Womens Suffrage Association
The first Womans Suffrage Association was created by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The main purpose of this convention was to achieve the right for women to vote by Congressional means of the Constitution -
19th Amendment
On this day, the 19th amendment was added to the constitution allowing women to vote. The original drafters of the amendment were Susan B. Anthony and Elizbeth Cady Stanton. They first introduced the idea in 1878 -
Meritor Savings Bank v.s. Vinson
Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson (No. 84-1979) In the case Meritor Savings Bank v.s Vinson, an employee of the bank complained that she had been subject to sexual harrassment by her supervisor. She claimed it was a direct vioation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII). The ending decision said that the employees ARE liable for sexual harrassment by their supervisors. -
Jackson v. Birmingham Board of Education
In the case Jackson v.s. Birmingham Board of Education, a girls basketball coach discovered that his team was not getting equal funding or equal access to facilities as the boys team. He stated that it was in direct violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments. He then proceeded to sue the Board of Education for Violating this Amendment. (Jackson Won) -
Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act
The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act was put into place after an employee at Goodyear complained she was recieving a lower wage than her male associates. This act allowed a victim of discrimination to file for discrimination 180 days of their last pay check(revised from last unfair paycheck).
