Seneca Falls Convention
Show that women were considered less citizens then black, and that rose womens voices. Susan Anthony and Elizebeth Cady Stanton founded the National Women Suffrage Association NWSA from the SENECA falls convention. -
Illegal Voting
Susan Anthony voted for a president in 1872, and was taken to court and fined 100 dollars, and she refused to pay and was never further punished, nor payed the fine. Also, she went with other women to try to voted in other states, the courts didn't take action on the others, saying that women are citizens, but that citzenship doesn't mean automatic voting rights. -
Carry Nation and the WCTU
Carry Was a figure of the WCTU who broke barrells of Liqiour with a hatchet. The WCTU was the womens' Christian Temperence Union. They did things to push for sufferage and to help out in other fields. Such as visiting people in prison and asylums, helping kindergarteners, and etc. They used their services to justify asking for suffrage. -
NAWSA formed
National American Woman Suffrage Association, or NNWASA. Formed in 1890. Lead by Lucy Stone. Not much was written about this. -
Carrie Chapman Catt and the New NAWSA tactics.
Suffrage for Women was granted in a few states, but not all at this time. So Carrie Chapman Catt helped change that. Stratagies for suffrage included traveling and speaking in public, which was not normal for women to do back then. Catt used tatcits such as organizing, keeping ties between the workers, having a large ammount of sport, lobbying, and being ladylike while doing it all. -
19th Amendment
This amendment gave women the right to vote. Was finalized in 1920. This is after 72 years of trying to get the right to vote.
