Wisconsin Conservation Congress Deer & Elk Advisory Committee continues to meet throughout the past two years and make progress in changes, amendments, and population issues. “for only educational purposes”

    Committee continues to work on hunting regulations and populations of wildlife. The committee specifically focused on archery regulations and age of hunters. The Clam Lake area struggles last winter, but has a population of approximately 150-160.

    Committee meets to recap the 2015 hunting season. They discuss deer population, number of hunters, and registration. Bryan Richards of USGS reported on the ongoing concerns of CWD and prevention tactics.

    Committee previews the 2016 hunting season. Wardens put on a program for families of deceased police officers, and gave them opportunities to hunt, fish, and hike.

    Central and southern Wisconsin farmlands are facing troubles controlling antlerless deer populations. Committee moves to work on this issue and regulate hunting times.

    Wisconsin has seen a rise in women hunting. Elk population is continuing to grow in Clam Lake.
