US Congress passed a law that the second Sunday in May was Mothers day. The day after this law was passed, Wilson issued a proclamation for the first national Mother's Day. -

WIlson was a leading man in the Progressive movement. He wanted to make the world a better place through this movement. The progressive movement was a major event during Wilson's presidency. Progressivism was the movement towards reform in the political standards and social standards of this era. -
Warren Harding
He was a Republican president. He was the 29th president of the United States and served from 1921 to 1923. -
Emergency Quota Act
Harding signed this law into affect in order to limit the number of immigrants that were allowed into the US. This represented growing nativism in the 1920's with Americans. -
Federal Child Welfare Program
The federal child welfare program was made to promote the welfare of these children that were less fortunate. These were for children who were left without parents and no education. Wilson made the first welfare program for these children. -
Teapot Dome Scandal
Warren's cabinet men were bribing people in order to make a profit off of the oil companies they were in charge of. Warren was said to be unaware of this hapening and was terribly embarrased by the actions. -
Cable Act
This act alowed women to maintain their citixenship following marriage to a person. Harding put this in place to further womens rights. -
Calvin Coolidge
Coolidge was a republican president. He was the 30th president and served from 1923 to 1929. -
Radio Announcement
Coolidge became the first president to make a public radio address to the people. He later helped create the Federal Radio Commission. -
Revenue Act
Coolidge put these in place to cut taxes. This act also forged new alliances between government and business through the Secretary of Commerce. -
Air Commerce Act
This gave the Commerce the power to regulate the aviation industry. This paved the way into control of air traffic. -
Kellogg Braind Pact
This was passed by Coolidge to outlaw war in order to settle disputes. This prohibited useless warfare internationally between countries who were arguing. -
Herbert Hoover
Herbert Hoover was a republican president. He was the 31st president and he served from 1929 to 1933. -
Agricultural Marketing Act
This allowed revitalization of the incresingly poor market for farm products. It produced a way for farmers to get more money for thier crop in the markets. -
Veterans Administration Act
This act moved all of the departaments working towards benefits for former servicmen together into one departament. This also allowed for the Veterans Affairs to be created and gave a jump to aid veterans. -
Smoot Hawley Tariff Act
Hoover signed this law in order to increase American made imports and increase the tarrif. This tariff was placed on 20000 imported goods. -
Boy's Club
After Hoover left office he became the chairman for the Boy's Club. Hoover also held the first White House Conference on Child Health and Protection. -
National Industrial Recovery Act
This law, passed by congress allowed the president to regulate industry in an atempt to raise prices after severe deflation. This allowed Roosevelt to help boost the economy in its time of need. -
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Roosevelt was a democratic president. He was the 32nd President and he was in office from 1933 to 1945. -
Abolishing Prohibition
Over the years of prohibition, the government was spending a lot of money in congress to make laws that tried to enforce it. Prohibition was failing and in the early 1930's it was very unpopular. Roosevelt ratified the 18th amendment and this abolished nation wide prohibition. -
Civil Works Program
Roosevelt created this in order to place unemployed workers back into the work force. This was a short term agency that was used in order to boost the economy and make the citizens happier. -
Fair Labor Standards Act
This law set up child labor laws and aolished the unfair exploitation of child workers. This law set the minimum hourly wage at 25 cents, and the maximum workweek at 44 hours.
