William Gerald Golding was born in Saint Columb Minor Cornwall, England. Golding parents were Alec Golding and Mildred Golding. -
Early Education
William Golding started to attend school at Marlborough Grammar School. Alec Golding who was William's father ran the school he attended. -
Publish His First Work In Literature
In 1934, before Golding graduated college he published his First Literature piece. The book was call Poems and it's collection was largely overlooked by critics. -
College Graduation
William Golding started to attend college in Brasenose College at Oxford in 1930. He went in to study for science but later on he decide to study for literature. Golding graduated from Oxford with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a diploma in education. -
Teaching English and Philosophy
In 1935, Golding decide to teach English and Philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury. This help him a lot because it gave him inspiration for his novel Lord of the Flies. -
Marriage
William Golding married Ann Brookfield in 1939 which later on had two children together. The couple lived in Falmouth, Cornwall with their kids who's names are Judith and David. -
Join The Royal Navy
While William Golding was teaching English he had to leave the job. He decide to leave English and join the Royal Navy to fight in World War ll. -
World War ll Ends
After 5 years of serving in World War ll as a navy Golding was finally able to go home. William Golding went back to teaching and writing as he had always wanted to do since the first time. -
Lord Of The Flies
In 1954, Golding was finally able to published his first and most acclaimed novel call Lord of the Flies. This book had been rejected by 21 publishers. -
Death and Legacy
On June 19, 1993, Golding died of a heart attack in Perranarworthal, Cornwall. After Golding death his completed manuscript for The Double Tongue was published.
