    William Golding was born on September 19, 1911, in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England. Born into a family of strong beliefs and opinions, Williams parents had tremendous effect on his lifestyle.

    William starting teaching in 1935 at Bishop Wordsworth school. He claims that the experience of teaching unruly children's served as inspiration for his novel Lord of the Flies. In this year Wiliam also got married to Ann Brookfield and had two children. ( specific dates are unknown)

    Just five short years after teaching William joined the Royal Navy. William fought in World War Two for five years fighting off battleships at thinking one Bismarck and also by fending off submarines and planes. He also got out in command of rocket-launching craft.
