Born Sir William Gerald Golding to Mildred and Alex Golding in Cornwall, England. -
Attended Oxford University
In 1930 Golding went to Brasenose College, Oxford, where he read Natural Sciences for two years before transferring to English Literature. -
Published "Poems"
A year before graduating at Oxford he published his first work, a book of poetry called "Poems". -

After attending college at Oxford he took a position teaching English and philosophy at Bishop Wordsworth's school in Salisbury. -
Joined the Royal Navy in WW2
Although very passionate in teaching he abandoned his job to serve for his country for the next 6 years. During WW2 he fought against battleships, submarines, and planes. Was a lieutenant. -
Lord of the Flies
After 21 rejections, he published his first and most acclaimed novel, Lord of the Flies. The book is about a plane of kids crash on an island and have to live by themselves, the kids go insane on each other. William at age 73 was awarded the 1983 Nobel prove for literature. -

William Golding died
He finished his last few years of his life with his wife Ann Brookfeild in Falmouth, Cornwall. He eventually died of a hear attack in the summer.
