Stephen F. Austin settles 300 colonist in Texas
Stephen F Austin went to New Orleans to recriut colonists to settle in Texas. They had to be Catholic, had to be people of great character. He was looking for people who could accept hard times and could provide for themselves. They were required to pledge loyalty to Spain. The settelers were given 177 acres and those who raised cattle got an extra 4,428 acres pf land. -

This disturbance caused by William T. Logan when he was trying to find his 2 runaway slaves. When he found out that Bradburn was keeping them he demanded he let them go. Bradburn refused to let them until he showed prook of ownership. He then hired William B Travis to trick Bradburn into giving the slaves back. But then Bradburn arrested William. -

Fredonian Rebellion
Hayden and Benjamin Edwards, the two brothers rebelled againgst the Mexiacan Goernment. Stephen F Austin led the small militia to stop the rebellion. The the brothers ran away to texas and left a cloud a suspiton for the Mexican Government. -

Because of the increasing population in Texas from settlers, govrnment leaders sent Mier y Teran to investgate. When he came back he reported that the Americans outnumbered them 10 to 1. The influence of the United States was growing in Texas. -

The Law of April 6, 1830
The law outlawed immigration from the United States, cancel all empresaried grants, encouraged Mexican and European settlers to recolate to Texas. It slowed down if not stopped all customs duty. No more slaves from Mexico. -

Battle of Gonzalez
When Castaneda and mexican troops were sent to take a cannon they had given the Texans. The Texans had buried it under a peach orchard. When the Mexicans arrived, the Texans fired the small but loud cannon at them, Then Castaneda ordered a retreat. over the cannon there was a fag that said "Come and Take it" meaning the cannon. -

Santa Anna becomes President
When Mexican citizens, like the Anglo and Tejano settlers in Texas were ignoring the Constituton of 1824. That created a unstable situation in the Mexican Government. Santa Anna, a leader took advantage of this hiccup. He shifted his allegiance to Mexico from Spain during the mexican Revolution. -

The citizens elected Stphen F. Austin as the leader of it. they asked that they repelled the Law of April 6. Allow immagration, except customs duties, public schools. -

When Gomez Parias interceped Austins letter to Texas about the Mexican Government being unfair and not granting his request. -
