    In 1982-1986, Will was in high school juggling ideas of possible career options. He was on the football team, even setting a record for field goals, did daily announcements with jokes in the morning, and in 1986, after graduating high school, even tried sports journalism. In 1989 he discovered he wanted to pursue his passion for comedy. In Erickson's fifth stage, Identity vs. Role Confusion, the person tries to discover who they want to be through trying new things and exploring new ideas.

    Will (age 35) decides to marry Viveca Paulin, whom he had been dating for a few years. In Erickson's sixth stage, Intimacy versus Isolation, the person decides if they want to spend the rest of their life married to someone or to live independently without marrying.
