What led to the American Revolution?

    Spain "discovered" America in 1492, since this discovery many Eurpean started making colnies in different locations of the New World. In 1663, English were starting to be settlers in Virginia but by the end of 17th century they had control over the eastern seabord of North America.
  • The Scientific Revoluton

    The Scientific Revoluton
    After being in the Middle Ages, the Scientic Revolution took place and led no new theories of the Universe. Galileo Galilei was an Italian scientist which promoted the Heliocentric system.
  • The Enlightenment

    The Enlightenment was led by the Scientific Revolution. The philosophers based on reason, natural law, hope and progress.
  • Voltaire

    Voltaire
    The greatest figure of this movement. He fought for religious tolerance, which was against the Church. He thought God created the world (he didn't interfer) and let his natural laws run.
  • The War of the Austrian Sucession

    Austria was having a new sucessor, Maria Theresa, and Prussia wanted a piece of land of Austrian territory. So, France allied with Prussia, while Great Britain Aallied with Austria.

    France vs. Great Britain. They fought for two areas: the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Ohio River Valley. In 1759, British defeated France. By the Treaty Of Paris, France transferred its territories to Britain.

    In 1765, Britan imposed the Stamp Act, a new tax, and also the thirteen colonies had a commercial restriction. This led to a settlers protest "No taxation without representation". In 1770, Tea had a new tax. In 1773, thay threw to the sea a load of tea.
